  • By completing and submitting this commitment form, you understand that you are committing to being a member of the UAlbany Marching Great Danes during the Fall 2026 season.

    You also recognize that before the 2026 fall semester begins, you need to communicate with your advisor and enroll in the course, AMUS 181 - Marching Band. Marching Band is offered as a 0-3 credits option. Expectations for participation are the same regardless of credit amount, so you can register for whatever best fits in your schedule. 

    You acknowledge that you must attend all rehearsals and performances associated with the ensemble, including any post-season games (in the event that the football team makes the playoffs, etc.).

    The full band's early move-in date for the fall is Sunday, August 16th. A full calendar for the season will be published over the summer.

    All collected data from this form is confidential and will only be shared with Marching & Spirit Bands staff and student leadership when necessary.

  • For the drumline, we have a limited number of instruments and we ask for video submissions to help us determine part assignments. No one will be cut from the ensemble. Video submission information will be sent out this summer and the deadline will be August 1st, 2026. Part assignments will be determined by video submissions and the first few days of Band Camp.

Due to the high visibility and frontfacing role which represents the spirit, energy, and excellence of our program, candidates will complete a threestage audition process designed to evaluate performance ability, professionalism, and readiness for collegiate marching band responsibilities. This link will direct you to the audition process for being selected as the feature twirler or being a part of the baton twirling line.   • For instruments UAlbany does not own, or needs beyond the instruments we own, we have a partnership with a local music company to rent instruments at a flat yearly rate. We charge you the exact cost of the rental and take care of the logistics to have the instrument ready for you when you move in. Are you interested in renting through us?
