  • Post Matriculation Transfer Credit Policies:

    1. Students may transfer and apply a maximum of 90 credits of approved coursework. Approval should be received prior to registering for the course(s) or exams(s) to ensure transferability. Students who request coursework during a Fall or Spring semester/term who do not plan to enroll in University at Albany coursework must work with Undergraduate Education to complete a Degree in Absentia/Leave of Approved Study form.

    2. Only coursework needed to meet degree requirements will be approved. This includes declared major and minor required coursework, general education required coursework, and required electives to meet overall degree requirements.

    3. Transfer coursework is not part of the University at Albany GPA calculation and do not affect your GPA.

    4. Transfer coursework does not meet University and Major/Minor Residency requirements.

    5. Course repeat rules will apply. This means that if granted permission to repeat a required course where repeats are not permissible, credit will only be earned for the repeat course one time. University at Albany graded coursework will still factor into the University at Albany GPA.

This means that if you transfer in a course which is at a lower level than a course you have already earned credit for at University at Albany, credit for the lower level course will be removed from your record. (For example, precalculus after having earned credit for calculus.)
