2027 Milk Excellence in Public Service Award
Purpose:
The Excellence in Public Service Award recognizes alumni for outstanding contributions to local, state or national communities generally, but not exclusively, through opportunities in appointed or elected office or public service nonprofit organizations. This award is named in honor of Harvey Milk ’51, a visionary civil and human rights leader who became one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States.
Criteria:
1.Nominee must be a graduate of the University at Albany.
2.Nominee must exhibit sustained outstanding achievement and dedication in the area of public service.
3.Nominee may not be a current member of the UAlbany Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Your Nomination:
In your nomination, please address the items listed below. Any additional information or documentation you would like to send to support your nomination is welcome, e.g., articles, biographical sketches, resumes, etc.

2.Educational background.
3.Current and past positions in the field of public service. Include job title, locale, responsibilities,activities/projects, and other related accomplishments and contributions. You may also includerecognition or honors received and professional affiliations. Please include dates where possible.
4.Description of the nominee’s character and commitment as it relates to this award.
5.Your name, address, email, phone number and class year(s), if applicable.
6.Nominators are strongly encouraged to seek other individuals to write letters in support of theirnomination. A minimum of two letters of support is recommended. Your nomination letter should be no longer than two pages, single spaced.
