Finish in Four Pledge

I pledge that:

• I will follow a curricular four-year map for my declared major upon enrollment as a full-time student at the University at Albany (this includes meeting academic review standards specific to my major).
  • Note: If I change my major, the terms of this Finish in Four pledge will only apply if the advising unit for my new major confirms that I can graduate within four years of my original date of admission to the University.
• I will declare a major upon the completion of 45 credits and make sure I have approved major status by the end of my second year (or completion of 60 credits).
• If I am completing an additional minor, the minor must be declared upon completion of 60 credits.
• I will complete a minimum of 30 credits each academic year (15 credits in both the fall and spring semesters, or if I choose less than 15 credits per semester, I will utilize summer and/or winter sessions).
• I will remain in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• I will monitor my academic progress and meet with my academic advisor each semester prior to registration to discuss progress and completion plans including assessment of progress towards completion of all requirements for my major and minor, general education, Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS), and upper-division requirements.
• I will add or drop classes only after speaking with my academic advisor.
• I will enroll in courses required for my major within 48 hours of my designated registration appointment time.
• I will complete registration by December 20th for spring semester registration and by May 20th for fall semester registration.
• I will remain enrolled for 4 consecutive years (8 semesters).
• I will apply for graduation by the appropriate deadline and meet all graduation requirements.
• I will remain in good standing with the University’s Community Standards and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.

 

I understand that I have the following responsibilities that will assist in my successful and timely degree completion:

• I will make academics a priority and reach out early to faculty or tutoring centers for assistance when I need help.
• I will communicate with my academic advisor and reach out anytime I am having academic difficulties.
• I will read my UAlbany email daily.
• I will utilize academic resources like EAB Navigate, the Minerva Center, and the Learning Commons.

I understand that the University at Albany pledges to:

• provide me with an academic advisor who will support me while I choose a major and minor and assist me with registration and course selectio
• offer needed sections and seat capacity in required courses.
• monitor my academic progress each semester and conduct outreach (via my official UAlbany email) regarding my academic progress, suggest interventions, and highlight any noncompliance with my pledge requirements.
• provide me the opportunity to complete the remaining course(s) required for my degree (for my primary academic plan only) free of any tuition and comprehensive fee charges, if I fulfill all my obligations of this Finish in Four pledge and am still not able to graduate in four years.
