Please use this form to apply for admission to the University at Albany Summer Research Program (UASRP).

UASRP is an eight-week residential program, where students are placed under the direction and guidance of faculty members and researchers from various institutions and agencies.

Personal Statement
In your own words, please write a personal statement that includes the following:
- Introduction & Motivation: Describe your academic background and your interest in pursuing research. What specific field or topic excites you, and why are you passionate about it? Highlight any experiences, courses or personal events that influenced your desire to explore this field further.
- Relevant Experience: Discuss any previous academic or research experience you have, such as relevant coursework, laboratory experience, independent projects, or internships. How have these experiences prepared you for the challenges of a summer research program? If you haven’t had formal research experience, focus on skills or academic achievements that demonstrate your readiness to contribute to a research environment.
- Goals for the Program: Explain what you hope to gain from participating in the summer research program. How will it help you develop academically, professionally or personally? Be specific about the research skills, knowledge or outcomes you are seeking.
- Contribution to the Program: In what ways do you believe you can contribute to the research team or lab you may potentially work with? Mention any skills, knowledge or unique perspectives you bring that will enhance the group dynamic or research outcomes.
- Long-term Goals: How does this research opportunity fit into your long-term academic or career goals? What impact do you hope to make in your chosen field, and how will this summer research experience help you on that path?
